In this very unique and interesting project, Nick Tanton chose Silva Timbers Siberian Larch cladding for its pleasing aesthetics and impressive performance characteristics.
Taking advantage of a natural hillside slope in his back garden, Nick asked Home Farm Observatories to create an observatory for him.
The structure is 2.5 x 3.5m in size, with a roof that slides open to uncover the scope. Both the walls and roof were clad in Siberian Larch.
Nick used Silva Timbers Siberian Larch to clad the exterior after visiting us at a landscaping exhibition and receiving a recommendation from his son, a garden designer. He explains:
I chose Silva Timbers Siberian Larch Channel Cladding because it would produce a watertight result with a pleasing aesthetic. I was very impressed with the existing website images and the helpfulness of the staff when discussing my requirements and also when ordering the timber.
The qualities of Siberian Larch were also praised by Home Farm Observatories, who made and erected the joinery:
Siberian Larch is a gorgeous material that provides excellent weather protection and allows for dimensional movement. The Channel profile gives shadow line effects.
Siberian Larch is a sustainable, old-growth timber that has been used in construction for centuries.
