Fire rated doors for Guys Hospital

Fire rated doors for Guys Hospital

Soundcraft has designed, manufactured and installed FD30 fire rated glazed flush doors and glazed timber screens on several floors of the tower block at Guys Hospital, one of the UK’s leading hospitals.

The requirement was to design, manufacture and install FD30 fire rated glazed doors and screens on several floors of Guys Tower, incorporating access control equipment in certain areas. Particular attention had to be paid to ensuring that the works did not interfere with the smooth operation of a working hospital.

The project was valued at over £250,000. The doors were veneered in crown cut American White Oak, which was the timber species of the frames and screens. Clear (not wired) glazing was used along with PVC edge protection on the meeting stiles. Doors were single and double acting. NHS trust Maintenance Manager, Gary Bayliff, said "Soundcraft did a really good job. The quality was great and the works didn’t cause us any problems”
